A New Year, A New Decade

A New Year, A New Decade

What are you hoping for in 2020? Are you thinking radical change?

The great thing about a new year is that it gives you a fresh start. What do you want your life to be like? You have the power to change the path you are on. It is so easy to be complacent, to feel like you are a victim of your circumstances. That nothing will ever be better.

I am here to tell you that is not true at all. Six years ago, that was me. I was so unhappy. I had a lot of bad stuff happen in my life and I just got comfortable being sad. I felt like I was never enough, and I did not love myself at all. Anxiety ruled my life and I was just accepting that this was my lot in life.

I was 44 years old and this thought just screamed at me. I said out loud one day “ I am afraid I will never be happy again.”  Those words terrified me and that my catalyst for radical change. I was not going to let this be my journey in life. I wanted more than that.  I had to find a way to be happy again. It was imperative to me to make that happen.  That is the day I took the steps to change my outlook, my thought patterns and my life.

When you have a lot of rough patches in life, it’s easy to fall into a negative thought pattern. That is what happened to me. So, I knew that was the first thing I had to change.

I made myself find one thing a day that was positive.  Whether it be a pretty flower or cute chipmunk on my porch, it didn't matter what it was, I just had to see something good. Sometimes, it was a struggle but I did not let a day go by where I didn’t find something. It was my mission to retain my brain.  Once you start focusing on the positive, then that becomes what you notice all the time. That practice truly saved my life. People tease me now because they say I have a child like excitement for the little things, like a pretty sunrise or a rainbow. It has now become just who I am and I believe it’s a true strength.

You HAVE the power within you to make your life wonderful and amazing. But YOU have to decide that is what you want and start implementing habits and behaviors to make the change. I'm not saying it’s easy because it’s not. You have to really want it and work on yourself. We are all a work in progress. But I promise you, its worth it. Take the time to work on you. You deserve it.

I am still in that process 6 years later. I am still learning and growing. And I am living my best life now because I took control of my journey.

Reflect on where you want to go. And make it HAPPEN.

Happy 2020! This is your year to redirect your journey and get to your happy place.

Much Love,

Kristi
